It would be wonderful if everyone were absolutely honest when they present themselves as a Christian phone company. The truth is, there are only 4 or 5 major phone services in the USA. And, all other phone companies have to use the services of the big boys in order to provide long distance phone services. So, there is no such thing as a phone company which does not use either Sprint, AT&T, Qwest, Verizon or Southern Bell. Christians have a choice: don't use phone services, or use the services of some company that probably supports some cause which we don't agree with. Even our phone services in some way use the services of one or more of the big companies. There are resellers and then the third level is the marketers, like me. So, while you can get better rates through the marketing agents of reseller companies, and probably more of the profit is going to go to support causes you agree with, a portion of the profits is still going to a major telecom corporation. It's like buying groceries. Are you going to starve just because the owner of the store gambles? Where our focus is as followers of Jesus is simple: we have to give a report of how WE used the resources God entrusted to us. And, if the person we buy from is not a good steward, that is between them and God.

Stating that a company is Christian is a public statement that the company should be held to Christian standards. Standards of honesty and integrity. Of course, when you are selling someone else's products, like phone services, it is impossible to be responsible for how they operate. But, if my customers ever complain about the practices of the companies I represent, then I would immediately stop representing that company. Telephone services are very competitive. And the regulation is very detailed. Therefore, it is necessary to really compare all aspects of billing before deciding upon a company. While an advertised rate may seem very low, it is important to find out how many fees are being charged, for what, and why. Be an informed consumer. I do not sell my services by slamming what other companies do. It is absolutely impossible to find a squeaky clean phone company in the USA. BECAUSE, all phone companies must use one of the big carriers for their long distance services. Understand.

But, I don't care if my grocer watches porn on the Internet. If his prices are the best, I'll shop there without asking about his personal habits or the causes he supports. Same thing with my hair cutter; the gas station owner; the burger joing owner; the chiropractor; etc. Just because I do business with these people does not make me morally or spiritually responsible for how they use their money or how they live their lives.

So many things to ask when you are shopping for long distance phone services ...
Will you be billed in full minutes, or in 6 sec (or even 1 sec) increments?
Is there a monthly fee?
What is the USF percentage?
Is there toll-free customer service? What days and hours?
How long has the company been in business?
